Springlake Fire Protection District Assessment
The Springlake Fire Protection District provides essential fire protection and emergency response services to approximately 4,500 residents across 51 square miles between Davis and Woodland. This proposed assessment will secure funding for improved firefighter staffing and apparatus replacement to maintain high-quality fire protection services.
Current Challenges & Funding Needs

Funding Gap
The District is funded through property taxes and a static $75 per residence assessment unchanged since 1997. Without a cost-of-living adjustment mechanism, the District cannot keep pace with rising costs.

Staffing Concerns
Competitive wages in other agencies make it difficult to retain and attract firefighters. Adequate staffing is critical for maintaining favorable Insurance Services Office (ISO) ratings that affect insurance rates.

Equipment Needs
The District relies on a 30-year-old Water Tender that is overdue for replacement. The proposed assessment would allocate $93,313 annually for this critical equipment replacement.
